The Postcard that started it all in 2020

Since 1998, Stacy Murray, founder of the Virtual Job Fair, has built a reputation as a creative and results-driven recruiter, helping companies across the country find and hire exceptional talent. One search, however, changed everything. A client needed to hire twenty service technicians with construction experience, and after exhausting every traditional tool, from job boards to referrals, Stacy followed a hunch. The client had mentioned success hiring from a particular Chicago neighborhood, so she designed and mailed 320 very rough and simple postcards highlighting the opportunity.​

The response surprised everyone. Only two hires could be directly tied to the postcards, but the ripple effect was remarkable. Months later, candidates were still calling after remembering the message. Some said a family member had saved the card and passed it along. In that moment, Stacy saw more than just a successful experiment. She realized she’d uncovered a powerful new way to boost employer brands, build trust within the community, and reach passive candidates who aren’t actively job hunting but are open to the right opportunity. A simple postcard had cut through digital noise and stayed in people’s minds long after the first glance.​

 

From that insight, Murray & Associates Virtual Job Fairs was born. Today, the company combines Stacy’s decades of recruiting expertise with the personal impact of beautifully designed direct mail to help employers stand out, connect authentically, and keep their message alive long after it lands in a mailbox. What started as a single inspired idea has become a lasting, people-centered way to link great companies with great talent.
